About
We are a group of people who have fantastic taste in music. Read and then listen.
The Stereo Lounge is:
Kevin Collier is the founder and lead writer of The Stereo Lounge. Inspired by his love of music and writing, he established The Stereo Lounge in late 2010. Since then, he was contributed to the blog with interviews, album and concert reviews. While the majority of his music tastes fall under the umbrella of modern rock music, his tastes vary and he enjoys discovering new music. His goal with the blog is to spread the word about music and do his part in promoting and supporting independent and up-and-coming artists.
As a young child, Kevin’s musical interests were eclectic and he listened to more “Weird” Al Yankovic than the artists he parodied. His older brother sparked his interest in rock music with bands like Linkin Park, Creed and P.O.D. Once he heard those bands, he was hooked and his musical palate broadened and refined over time. He lives in Ventura County with his wife, who shares his love of music. Together, they have started a record collection. His favorite bands are Thrice, Brand New, and Emery.
Dale Nickey has been a contributor to The Stereo Lounge since late 2011. His essays have also been published in the Official Yes fan site, “Notes From The Edge”. A composer/producer since the early 70′s. He released his first solo album “Time Takes No Prisoners” in 2000. Dale is currently working on his second solo album “A Different Distant Past (The Acoustic Anthology), release date TBA. His music has been reviewed on “The Stereo Lounge”
Nickey has a vast knowledge of music and musicians from the 60′s through the 80′s. Nickey’s experience as a musician gives an “inside baseball’ perspective to his writing about music that is informative and entertaining. Nickey started off writing as a lyricist/poet, but it was his day job as a Labor Relations specialist that educated him about the intricacies of long form writing. He recently completed a non-fiction book describing his experiences in the music business tentatively titled “Bottomfeeders”. Dale currently lives in Thousand Oaks with his family.
Ace Lancin was born in Texas, smuggled to California, raised in the desert, and trained in Hollywood. Ace Has loved music since the first time he heard “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” by The Tokens. When Ace was fifteen, he started playing bass. He played with Jonathan Cote’ in many incarnations of a hard rock band, now known as Valor. When Ace was 21, he attended Musicians Institute and studied Bass performance and Guitar craft (guitar building), where he became the bass player he is today, and built his own bass. Ace Lives in Palmdale, Ca and is constantly trying to escape from this desert prison. No such luck.
Ace Lancin has been writing for The Stereo Lounge Since 2011. Ace tends to focus more on the hard rock and metal in his writing, but he loves all music… Except pop, rap, and all the KIIS FM crap.
What’s up guys – hey you should add me as a writer – Ive got a top five for you:)
Nice stuff by the way
Sure, Noah, we’d love to have you on board. Just make a profile on WordPress and then I can add you to the list.
OH! I should totally get in on this! I see a strong lack of real hard rock and metal in this group. While I am a fan of softer indie rock and interesting/different music I am a classic child of the 90′s. Grunge, metal, Alternative, hard rock, rock, country-fried-rock, blues, jazz… heck. the only thing you wont hear me talking about is what is being shlocked off as hip-hop in the last 10-15 years and any sort of bubble gum pop, barely music nastiness.
And no offense to the list of top 20 metal… but… it’s lacking… just sayin! just sayin!
I love you all!
God bless you guys!
At least there is someone out there still listening to music!
Zach (Ace Lancin) Keith
